Roundtable Discussion on Population, Physiography, Precarity: Collectively Building a Climate for Peace in South Asia | 7th and 8th November, 2023

In partnership with Adelphi, Kubernein Initiative hosted a two-day workshop, with experts from government, civil society, and academia from across South Asia, to discuss the challenges and opportunities of climate change and peace in the region.

The discussions underscored the need for a regional response to climate impacts. Some potential entry points for regional action included enhancing preparedness, early warning systems, data sharing, and building community resilience. Participants also emphasised the need for nature-based solutions, a new approach to country level engagement that strengthens scientific adaptation practices, avoids technological lock-ins, and increases regional resilience.
The outcomes from this event will feed into a report which will be ready for public release in January 2024.
