The idea of gender mainstreaming in foreign policy is gaining traction across the world. Several countries such as Sweden, Canada, France, Mexico, Germany, Spain, Luxemburg, Libya, Chile, and most recently the Netherlands have announced Feminist Foreign Policies. Other countries such as Australia, UK, Ireland, Argentina, may not have made formal Feminist Foreign Policy announcements yet, but are working towards understanding and integrating the gender and inclusivity lens in policy action according to their specific contexts. Through this webinar, along with unpacking some of the core aspects of a Feminist Foreign Policy/gender mainstreaming in foreign policy, we seek to hear perspectives from Indo-Pacific countries, with the objective of adding more voices from the region to the growing global conversations.

Kubernein Initiative is an independent, female led, geopolitical advisory firm based in Mumbai (India) working to mainstream issues that need greater intellectual capacity and focus. Our vision is to build an organisation that considers critical questions with a perspective that balances traditionally ‘western’ thought in the field of international relations and diplomacy with new and emerging ideas from the global south. Kubernein Initiative’s flagship project on exploring a Feminist Foreign Policy for India is the first of its kind in the country and seeks to understand what a more Inclusive Indian Foreign Policy may mean for a large and diverse country with complex internal realities.
La Trobe Asia was established in 2014 to provide leadership on all aspects of La Trobe University’s engagement with Asia.
