Kubernein Initiative served as the knowledge partner for a two-day dialogue hosted by NIUA and UN Women on ‘Creating a women-led U-20 framework’ held on 24 and 25 May, 2023. The report entitled Mainstreaming Women-Led Urban Frameworks was launched by the U20 engagement group at its Mayoral Summit in Ahmedabad on 7th July 2023. The conference brought together 60 thought leaders working on the diverse intersections of the urban ecosystem and gender. The report is a culmination of discussions from the two-day dialogue as well as research by Kubernein Initiative and serves as an introductory guide to the principles and strategies that underpin the creation of an urban gender action framework. It also aims to foster deeper dialogue on building inclusive and resilient cities.
The report pushes cities to realize their full potential, by prioritizing the perspectives of women, who are not only participants and beneficiaries but active contributors to the development of cities and their economies. Further, by ensuring that women have equal opportunities and influence in shaping urban development, we can build cities that are environmentally sustainable, socially just and inclusive while also being economically viable.
